Job Application for Home Depot
From LoveToKnow Jobs
If you'll be filling out a job application for Home Depot, make sure you set aside at least an hour to be on the safe side because it's a very in-depth form. You can fill out the application in the store on a computer or complete the store's online application form in the comfort of your own home. The most important thing to remember is to take it when you have plenty of time and you will not be distracted.
What to Expect
First, you'll select a language (English or Spanish) and choose from the following types of positions:
- In-store hourly
- Distribution Center hourly
- Corporate/Other
Once you've chosen the job you want to apply for, choose the city and state in which you're interested in working. You will also be asked about which company and type of work (accounting, construction, legal, and so on) you are interested in if you select the Corporate/Other category.
After you've given that information, you will see a list of stores in your area where you could potentially apply. Select as many as you would like. If you chose the Corporate/Other choice earlier, you'll be shown a list of jobs you can apply for in your area. Click on any of those for a full job description, required education, required skills, and more. You can apply from there or choose to add to your cart and apply for more than one position at once later.
Completing the Job Application for Home Depot
Once you have determined the store or stores in which you would wish to work, you can begin selecting the positions you feel that you are qualified for. For in-store hourly positions, choose from jobs like: phone center associate, delivery puller, schedule writer, paint sales associate, cashier supervisor, building materials department supervisor, and so on. Choose as many as you like and then select "Apply". You will then be asked to set up an online account that will store your information. After you fill in your contact information, you'll be asked whether you would like to work full or part time and the hours that you are available. You'll also be given the option to put in desired wages.
The Resume and More
The next section starts with your school and employment history. Select at least one skill related to Home Depot's atmosphere, whether it's working a cash register, an interest in interior design, or doing carpentry projects yourself at home. Select your proficiency in the languages you can speak, read, and write.
Disclose any history with Home Depot or the military. Confirm that you're over 18 years of age, that you're legal to work in the United States, and whether you've been convicted of a crime. Then there is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer page where you can answer questions regarding race and gender if you wish.
Before offering you a job, Home Depot may wish to complete a background check, so you'll be asked to fill out information for that as part of your job application. List other names you've gone by, past addresses, your driver's license number, and your birthday.
In-store Positions
There are questions about your ability to sell products you don't know very much about, your ability to read charts and alphabetize, and how well you handle stress. Once you've filled that out, the application asks for an overview of your work history including how many years of retail experience you've had, how much home improvement you tend to do, the nature of the projects and how much help you have, and your general approach to the work scenario (interactions with supervisors, co-workers, customers).
Verify that the positions and stores where you wish to apply are correct. Then you'll be asked to "sign" by using your User ID to say that everything you answered in the application is true to the best of your knowledge.
Distribution Center Positions
Choose non-supervisory or supervisory in the state and city you want. These multiple-choice questions here are more involved than the ones listed with the in-store hourly jobs. You might have to dissect a work schedule or determine a pattern. There will also be behavior-related situational. Review the potential place of employment and jobs applied for and apply.
Corporate Positions
Once you've chosen the job you'd like to apply for, you will be asked about your experience, whether you're willing to have a drug test and background check, whether you're physically capable of the job for which you're applying, and more. The other situational questions you will be asked are similar to those of the distribution center part of the application. In fact, you can apply for distribution center and corporate jobs simultaneously by adding them to your cart.
Your hob application for Home Depot will remain in the company's database for sixty days..
