Work at Home Jobs OKed by Better Business

From LoveToKnow Jobs
As you respond to an ad that says the company is offering work at home jobs OKed by Better Business Bureau, beware. Some of these companies are offering scams. The good news is that the Better Business Bureau is one of the safest, most important resources anyone can have when determining if they should work for a company or not. Use it as a tool for locating high quality work at home jobs.
Work at Home Jobs Oked by Better Business Bureau
Many work at home jobs are acceptable types of employment. The Better Business Bureau does not advocate that people choose one company or another to work for. Rather, the organization collects data for other uses in the form of complaints.
Better Business Bureau representatives follow up on those complaints over a period of time, determining if they can be substantiated. They then work to resolve the problem with the company. All of this is in detail on the Better Business Bureau's website, so that anyone who may be considering working with a company can learn about potential problems.
This does not mean, though, that all work at home jobs will be listed here. In fact, unless someone files a claim against a company, the BBB may not know about any problems. Still, this should be a resource for anyone considering working for a work at home job to use to check out the company prior to doing work with them.
Locating your local chapter of the Better Business Bureau can help you to start using this tool as a resource. As you apply for jobs, learn the company's name and then head over to the BBB's website. Do a search of the company there and learn about potential scams and fraudulent activity.

Tips for Avoiding Scams
There are many great jobs available to those who do wish to work from home. Finding them is a challenge. There are some jobs that are known as being scams. These are not work at home jobs OKed by Better Business Bureau agencies.
- Work at Home Assembly: These jobs require you to assemble items at home and say they pay per piece of completed work. You will invest money in the raw materials and find yourself with work not meeting their "standards" and therefore never paid for.
- Envelope Stuffing: Often "guaranteed" income by stuffing envelopes and mailing them. In this scam, you pay for the information. When you receive it, you find out that there's little envelope stuffing involved, but rather you are just learning to do what someone has done to you: post ads that get people to send in a fee for this information. The U.S. Post Offices even makes a remark that there is no known legitimate form of this job available.
- Multi Level Marketing: Here, you do have a real business. It is important to know the difference between a direct sales business where you sell items to individuals and memberships to the company and pyramid schemes. In pyramid schemes, the profit is in signing up others to recruit others rather than to sell the products.
- Make Money Online: Purchase the CD containing information and resources and you can make large amounts of money from the web. While you can make money working your own business online, you do not and should not have to pay money to do so. Another type of scheme is that you'll pay for information on work at home information. When you receive the CD or materials, it is nothing more than a list of other work at home scams even those already mentioned here.
The best way to protect yourself from scams is often to simply go by the old saying of, "if it’s too good to be true, it probably is." If a company has unresoved Better Business Bureau complaints, stay away. On the other hand, don't be discouraged by these scams. There are many great opportunities available.
